Secrets
of Answering
Open-Ended Questions
Dear Parents!
After numerous enquiries about our students’ consistent 80% marks on the Open Ended Question Section for Primary School Science, we decided to develop a short 10-hour course, “The Secrets of Answering Open-Ended Questions”.
$250 per course. This course is designed for P5 to P6 in 2024. 1 make up lesson available on thursday 2 to 4.30

Students can ace the MCQ section but often struggle with Open-Ended Questions during exams.
If you ask your child, most of them aren’t trained in answering Open-Ended Questions – it’s either “write the keyword” or “use the format given”. But these are not enough to get high marks on exams.
TRUST US!
Apart from using format and keywords, students need to have cognitive intelligence to analyze questions and think of the most appropriate answers to get full marks. CCE’s cognitive training will provide your child with the thinking skills needed to ace exams.

Most students will write this answer and got it wrong despite using the answering template, as they are not able to identify the right point to the answer.

As without the right cognitive thinking skills to analyse, linked it to concepts and modified the answer to suit the questions, many students can use the template wrongly and missed out on the answer.

Take a look at the 2 examples below. The student had used the keywords and the right format but was unable to get the maximum of 2 marks from it!

Glass are transparent (1/2m) and allows light to pass through (1/2m). Thus, the lights that pass through the transparent parts of the signboard will not reflect onto the viewer’s eyes (1/2m), causing viewers to miss the signboard at night when there is low lights.
Standard Answer:
Question #29:
It decreases (1/2m). The warmer water vapour (1/2m) loses heat and condenses (1/2m) into water droplets on the cooler outer surfaces of the glass (1/2m).
Question #30:
Error 1: Clear plastic sheet is transparent while frosted glass is translucent. Therefore, more light should be able to pass through the clear plastic sheet than the frosted glass.
Error 2: The styrofoam is opaque and light detected should be zero.
